Dayton Medical Imaging is currently participating
in several clinical trial studies with local physicians and research
companies partnering with pharmaceutical companies and universities.
In the MRI department, our newest studies are focusing on active and
relapsing Multiple Sclerosis. We are providing contrast enhanced MRI
Brain studies to Abbott Pharmaceuticals and the University of Colorado
in conjunction with a local neurology group. The MRI staff is also performing
Pelvic MRIs for the TAP study to evaluate uterine fibroids.
In the CT department, we are working with Triphase Research and Midwest
Clinical Research performing CT Head studies for the assessment of Alzheimers.
We currently are involved in three clinical trials in DEXA. We have
been scanning patients since February 2002 for Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals
in a study for Raloxifene treatment in osteoporotic post-menopausal
women. Our newest study in Bone Density has us partnered with Wells
Institute for Health Awareness. Participants in this trial receive Whole
Body DEXA scans testing the effects of testosterone levels and bone
density.
Midwest Regional Research has utilized our services since March 2004
in a clinical trial for Benign Prostate Hypertrophy and Elevated PSA
levels by providing prostate and pelvic ULTRASOUND services.
Screening Mammograms are performed on patients in 4 clinical trials
assessing hormone replacement therapy in female patients.
The X-Ray department is participating in several studies ranging from
joint imaging for osteoarthritis, with Abbott and Merck Pharmaceuticals,
to chest x-rays for hypertension and asbestos exposure.
The staff at Dayton Medical Imaging is very fortunate to have established
professional relationships with local referring physicians, research
companies, and pharmaceutical companies allowing us to become a respected
imaging provider for clinical trials.

BAB Radiology is partnering with a local physician to perform multiple
studies for the evaluation of Multiple Sclerosis for the Clinical Trials
Division of South Shore Neurology located in Patchogue and Bay Shore,
New York. Through the participation in those studies BAB is currently
working with two pharmaceutical companies: NeuroRx and CombiRx. BAB's
staff has completed all necessary technical, clinical and IT requirements
and anticipates partnering with South Shore Neurology in the future
for additional studies.
The second location is Parkland Diagnostic Imaging located in Orchard
Park, New York. They are coordinating a separate MS study lead by an
area neurologist. They have completed all necessary technical, clinical
and IT requirements.
CMI South is participating with a clinical trial with a sports medicine
research foundation for the University of Miami. The research was for,
“MRI Evaluation of the Rotator Cuff Inflammation in Baseball Pitchers
Pre and Post-Competition.”
The athletes were scheduled for an MRI before and after each game, the
images were transmitted to Dr. Thorpe for interpretation. We performed
an average of 4 to 6 exams on athletes that participated in the research.

The Baywalk practice participated directly with a clinical trial study
with an OBGYN group who was involved with World Care. They were studying
the affect of a new treatment for uterine fibroids. As part of that
study it was Baywalk's responsibility to provide MRI services for the
women involved. We scanned the patient prior to the patient going into
the trial and twice more after treatment. We supplied World Care with
a DICOM compatible Disc, that was over-nighted to Vancouver for interpretation.
We also participated with an MS study that was administrated by a local
Neurology group. They handled all contact with the research company.
Baywalk provided the imaging services and films.
